Epsom Oaks heroine Thundering On will attempt to become the 17th English-Irish Oaks winner at the Curragh on Saturday when the daughter of Frankel faces 10 rivals in a quality-laden Juddmonte Irish Oaks at 4.35pm.
Her trainer Joseph O’Brien, who sent out Sons And Lovers to win a Group 2 contest at Longchamp on Tuesday, will also be represented by Johanna Walsh and supplemented stable companion Rebel Moon, unbeaten in two starts for owners Al Shira’aa Racing.
William Haggas, fresh from his Group 1 win with Maltese Cross on the same card in France two days ago, has strong claims with Earth Shot, attempting to provide the Newmarket trainer with a second Irish Oaks win following his victory with Sea Of Class in 2018.
His Ribblesdale Stakes winner will renew rivalry with supplementary entry and French Oaks third Inis Mor (David Menuisier), who defeated her at Goodwood in May with Oisin Murphy taking the ride.
Aidan O’Brien, who achieved a record-equalling eighth classic of the season courtesy of Benvenuto Cellini in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby last month, matching his achievements of 2017 and 2025, holds a strong hand.
His Cheshire Oaks winner Amelia Earhart, behind Thundering On in sixth place at Epsom, heads the Ballydoyle challenge with Beautify, Cameo, Composing and Sugar Island also lining up for one of the most prestigious races in the global calendar.
Jim Bolger, successful twice before in the Irish Oaks with Give Thanks (1983) and Margarula (2002), has also supplemented the unbeaten filly Sparan Nua with the Munster Oaks winner holding high hopes from connections.
The Group 2 Tulfarris Hotel And Golf Sapphire Stakes is headed by Group 1 winner Bucanero Fuerte (Robson De Aguiar) and has four British runners - Cover Up (Simon & Ed Crisford), Jakajaro (Robert Cowell), Partisan Hero (David Loughnane) and Rosy Affair (George Boughey) with Billy Loughnane booked to ride.
Donnacha O’Brien, successful with Comanche Brave in last weekend’s Group 1 July Cup, could add another big race to his tally with his 110-rated supplementary entry Havana Anna, fourth last month in the Commonwealth Cup.
The ten-runner field is completed by Charles Darwin and Brussels (Aidan O’Brien) with Kendall Roy (Katie McGivern) and Ipanema Queen (Robson De Aguiar) also facing the starter.
Aidan O’Brien has won the Gain Railway Stakes multiple times including the last two renewals with subsequent classic winners’ True Love and Henri Matisse.
The Ballydoyle maestro has the 101-rated pair Carry The Flag and Confucius declared for the six-furlong Group 2 juvenile contest at 4.00pm.
The seven-runner field also includes previous winners’ Immortal Guard and Tribeca representing Robson DeAguiar, Celeron (Michael O’Callaghan), Switching Sides (Jessica Harrington) and The Scallionator (Michael Mulvaney).
Three British-trained runners are declared for the Group 3 Al Shira’aa Racing Meadow Court Stakes (2.15pm) - Dreamasar (Ed Walker), Francophone (Charlie Johnston) and Rhapsody (William Haggas).
Paddy Twomey is double-handed with Pretty Polly Stakes runner-up and last year’s winner One Look with stable companion Moody, unbeaten twice since coming to Ireland from France, also declared.
The strong domestic challenge includes the Joseph O’Brien-trained Nyra, runner-up to Irish Oaks contender Sparan Nua in the Munster Oaks, with Spicey Margarita (Robson De Aguiar) and Subsonic (Johnny Murtagh) completing the eight-runner field.
Liverpool FC Foundation, the official charity of Liverpool FC which focuses on improving health, championing learning and enhancing opportunities for all, team up with the Curragh by sponsoring the Scurry Handicap with 21 declared.
