Byrnes investigation ongoing

THE investigation by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board into the circumstances surrounding Redwood Queen’s unseat at Wexford on May 28th is ongoing. An IHRB spokesperson told The Irish Field: “The IHRB is committed to ensuring the matter is concluded in a timely and thorough manner, with due regard to fair process and the safety and integrity of racing.”

Down Royal result amended

PURRING Along has been reinstated as the winner of a seven-furlong handicap at Down Royal on June 20th. Trained by Paul Fahey and ridden by Ronan Whelan, Purring Along was first past the post but was demoted by the local stewards for causing interference. Bamako (Andy Oliver/Billy Lee) was promoted to first place.

The Appeals Body considered the matter on Tuesday and “were not satisfied that Bamako was disadvantaged enough to reverse the positions of the race and therefore the appeal was allowed.”

Equip Artervac back in stock

EQUIP Artervac, the equine vaccine for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA), is now back in stock and available for order from wholesale suppliers, according to pharmaceutical company Zoetis. The vaccine gives horses immunity against equine arteritis.

Because global demand for the product is relatively low, it is occasionally scarce and last October the Department of Agriculture took the unusual step of allowing the importation of a similar unlicensed ‘live vaccine’ named Arvac from the US.

IEC’s new French link

THE Irish Equine Centre (IEC) has launched a pioneering laboratory exchange programme with LABÉO in France. The ‘Live My Life’ programme will strengthen ties between the two organisations and enhance veterinary diagnostics and research across Europe.

“This initiative exemplifies the power of European partnerships in advancing animal health,” said IEC chief executive Debbie Grey. “By working together, we can not only enhance our diagnostic capabilities but also contribute to stronger surveillance of equine health in both regions.”
