THERE are no worries about watering or slippy bends at Laytown. The annual strand meeting takes place in Co Meath on Thursday week, September 10th, starting at 4.40pm.

All races are run on a straight course, which is railed as soon as the tide goes out. Racecourse manager Jessica Cahalan said: “We’re really looking forward to it. My message to racegoers is that we’re really tight on car parking spaces and blocking footpaths or wheelchair access is just not acceptable. So we ask people to be really mindful when parking.

“There is ample car parking on the Bettystown side of Laytown, in national schools and around public buildings, so racegoers should drive past the racecourse to that side of the town if necessary. We have so much goodwill from the community and we need to maintain that.”
