Hollie Doyle has spoken of her delight at being granted a licence to return to Hong Kong later this year after spending a large part of 2026 on the sidelines.

The multiple Group 1-winning rider enjoyed a winner on her first ride back on Saturday at Southwell before the meeting was abandoned due to fog.

She had been off games since May, having broken both bones in her lower left leg and went through rigorous rehabilitation to return to the saddle, but things are finally looking up for the 30-year-old.

Doyle’s Hong Kong stint will run from November 29 to January 31.

“It’s a big relief things are looking up again. Obviously I went to Hong Kong last year and I always wanted to go back if they’d have me,” said Doyle.

“When I had the injury things were up in the air. It’s a results-based sport so fair play to them for sticking with me and I’m really looking forward to going back.

“I was pretty lucky that I had a winner on my first day riding over there. I just really enjoyed the intensity of it all, the tightness of the tracks and I think I fitted in quite well over there. I can’t wait to get going out there again.

“I was really busy last year, obviously I’m under no illusions that it might be harder this year after the year I’ve had, but I’ll give it my all as usual and see what happens – what more can you do?”

Reflecting on her winning return on Saturday which was cut short, Doyle said: “I was gutted the fog called the rest of it off because I think I’d have had another winner or two!

“I suppose I should appreciate that I’m back riding really. It was a relief and I answered lots of questions that people may have had about me after a long time off.

“People might want to see me ride before they put their trust back into me, I want to brush that under the carpet before I go again.

“I’ve had a lot of success over the years but when that is taken away from you and your career is on the line you do really appreciate what you’ve had in the past and hope you can get back to your level.”
