LAST Tuesday at Chantilly, Pierre-Charles Boudot landed a four-timer and broke a European record having by Thursday clocked up 278 (includes one in Italy) winners this season. The jockey, who will be 24-year-old next month, surpassed the previous total of 273 victories set up by Peter Schiergen in 1995.

Boudot is the 2016 champion in France having shared the title last year with Christophe Soumillon. By the end of the season, he may well pass the 300 mark, although he will have breaks in the Far East where tomorrow he will partner Erupt in the Japan Cup before a trip to Hong Kong in December.
