THERE’s little doubt that Annie Power will dominate the betting for the OLBG Mares Hurdle but despite her presence, it’s a race that is already appearing to have strength in depth.

The initiative to increase the number of mares’ races in recent years is now bearing fruit. The Mares Hurdle could turn out to be a very interesting race and quite a few mares have posted good performances over the last weeks. Aurore D’Estruval (who takes on the Fighting Fifth Hurdle today at Newcastle), Little King Robin, Dark Spirit and Carole’s Spirit have all looked good in staking their claims. Willie Mullins also has Glens Melody in the mix.
