OMEY Beach Races near Clifden in Connemara is always a well-attended meeting and last Sunday was no exception. The customary large crowd saw doubles for two Kilkenny riders, Mikey Sheehy and Joe Conlon.

Sheehy took the 14.2hh race on the appropriately named Oughterard, who laid down his marker as a main challenger in this class at the forthcoming Dingle Festival with a smooth success, as he saw off the challenge of two proven campaigners in Waratah and My Friend George.
