ADO McGuinness Racing opens its doors to the public next Saturday (May 18th) from 10am until noon.

It promises to be a great morning for those who wish to get an insight into how a racing yard operates and we are hoping to build on our successful open day in 2018.

Our yard continues to go from strength to strength and this season has been no different.

There are only three flat trainers who have trained more winners than us so far in 2019 with 17 winners at the moment, and an impressive win strike rate of 17%.

What is even more interesting is, of those flat trainers currently in the top 10, we boast the highest individual winners to runners strike rate of 42%.

The highlights of 2019 so far include the two trebles we had at Dundalk in January and March, which has cemented our position at the top of the winter series in 2019 with 15 winners.

Another highlight has been Beau Warrior winning five races in a row, a feat which has never been achieved previously at Dundalk and seen her climb in the ratings from an opening mark of 55 to a peak of 93.

Ado is renowned for using the beach as part of his training regime and it is a vital cog in the success of the operation. We use a sand gallop to get them fit and then the beach is used to keep them mentally happy and physically sound.

The beach is fantastic for post-race recovery and allows us to run our horses more frequently and consistently as a result.

OPEN MORNING

Next Saturday we hope to begin at 10am with light refreshments and a meet and greet period of 20 minutes. At 10.20am we hope to demonstrate the daily routine of the racehorses in our care and our hard working team by taking horses to the beach (weather permitting!).

We will transport people by bus from the stables to the beach, which is less than five minutes away.

On returning to the stables at 11.20am our MC, Dave Keena, will be talking to our farrier and veterinary surgeon about the importance of hoof care and soundness in racehorses.

Ado will talk about his skill and technique in training racehorses and how he manages to get the best out of the horses in his care.

Dave will then speak with me about the setting up of Shamrock Thoroughbreds and the role it has played in bringing together groups of like-minded individuals to share in the ownership of a racehorse and the fun and enjoyment of being part of a successful syndicate.

Hope to see you there and if you can’t make it then feel free to get in touch directly at any time.
