THE veterinary world’s loss will be the gardening world’s gain next week as popular veterinary surgeon Howard Whelan retires from the profession following 53 years’ tireless dedication to equine veterinary science and the equine sector.
Those working closest with him describe Howard as “a maverick, no nonsense practical vet’”who has left an indelible mark on his colleagues, clients and friends. “He has brought charisma, wit and humour to his work, the likes of which we may not see again,” said Jane Bruce, veterinary nursing assistant at the Ringneill Equine Clinic.
