THE bumper at Navan on Sunday was run under the title ‘Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race’ as the Co Meath track once again gave some welcome exposure to the Newry-based charity. “It’s three or four years since we had a joint fund-raiser there with Louth GAA Ladies but Navan has been very kind in running the race under the name of our charity since then,” explained Colin Bell who, with his wife Eithne, established the Trust following the death of their son Kevin in a hit-and-run incident in New York in 2013.

The Trust, which operates on a 32-county basis, “aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body of loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.”
