DETAILS of the 2025 Galway Races were officially launched at a party in the city’s Radisson Red Hotel this week. Over 130,000 racegoers are expected through the gates for the seven-day meeting which starts on Monday, July 28th, exactly a month from today.

Broadcaster Gemma Ní Chionnaith acted as MC for the launch party and among the guests were some of the Festival’s long-standing sponsors.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Diageo’s involvement with Ballybrit, while Chanelle Pharma has sponsored the leading trainer prize for 40 years. The Loughrea-based firm is extending its involvement this year to include a best turned out series. Templemore trainer John Ryan has a great record in winning best turned out prizes and recently track CEO Michael Moloney paid a trip to the Ryan yard to see how they do it.

More details of the series will be revealed soon.

The best dressed competition on Galway Hurdle day is always a huge draw and this year has a new sponsor in Ella & Jo. Friday’s most stylish competition, sponsored by Athlone Towncentre, will see Mandy Maher as head judge this year, assisted by former winner Lisa McGowan and Marietta Doran.
