IN a bid to encourage young members of the Irish Pony Club to become involved in dressage, Mary Dennehy, chairman of dressage and combined training in Area 5, presented a new cup for the organisation’s national dressage day which was held last Saturday at Spruce Lodge.

The cup for the youngest rider on the day was presented to seven-year-old Ned Kelly who finished fifth in the Under 10 competition on the 17-year-old Buster Of Lisnagar with whom he also competes in Irish Pony Society performance classes and hunts. According to his mother Lucy, Ned, who is a member of the Shillelagh and District Branch, was a bit disappointed with his score of 62.75% but, importantly, he beat his older brother Freddie who was riding Inspector Bob (63).
