CHARLES Hanley tuned into the Horse Sport Ireland stallion results last week from the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington where his son Cormac is competing Captain Caruso. The Claremorris family were delighted when Caruso’s three-parts brother Captain Pearl, produced by his brother-in-law Gabriel Slattery and Shane Dalton, was Stage 1 approved. The four-year-old, by Captain’s Diamond, will be produced this year by stable jockey Dalton.

Hanley met the US show jumping icon George Morris, who remembered Charles’ great-grand uncle and USET Hall of Fame inductee Pat Dixon. While Cormac, who is making a name for himself on the Florida circuit will remain Stateside, Charles returned home this week to prepare for the annual stallion parade at the family’s Claremorris EC base today (Saturday) at 6pm.
