LIMERICK'S Paul Kennedy secured a podium finish in the four-star Grand Prix at Bolesworth in the UK today (Sunday), jumping one of just four double clear rounds with the Irish-bred mare Cartown Danger Mouse.

Twenty-two year old Kennedy was one of four Irish riders who made it into the second round, where heavy rain and a tough course saw many of the 13 combinations through to the decider finish with faults. Kennedy kept his cool with the 10-year-old mare, who is owned by Jane Kennedy, and a fault free round in 49.81 seconds saw them take third spot on the podium.

Offaly’s Darragh Kenny produced one of the fastest jump-off rounds aboard Go Easy De Muze, but one fence down left them in fifth. Kenny was crowned leading rider of the show following a string of good results during the four-day fixture.

Dutch rider Michel Hendrix took the Grand Prix winners trophy with Baileys, while Colombia’s Roberto Teran finished as runner-up with Brilliant Du Rouet.

Meanwhile at the two-star German show in Sommerstorf, Jack Dodd took fourth place in the feature Grand Prix with Quarto Mail.
