TRAINER Adrian Sexton and family are back in Ireland and fighting fit for the racing scene and are really fit as they are participants in Ireland’s Fittest Family broadcast on RTÉ One on Sunday nights.

The family arrived back in Ireland in February 2020 after seven years in Australia just at the start of the pandemic! Adrian takes up the story: “I had been a trainer in Ireland previously, with over 40 winners and some of my better known horses include Bawn Og, Dunroe Lady and Carlowsantana. We kept a riding school where we were based in Canberra.

“I have been renewing my licence with the IHRB and it has been an unusual experience operating through Zoom due to the restrictions! I am based at my parents’ place Kildare Farm Foods, Rathmuck, Co. Kildare. Seamie Heffernan, a friend for years, has been in helping riding the horses and we are good to go.”

Adrian’s wife Janet is a midwife so knows the meaning of hard work. Harry, their son, has just taken out his amateur licence and has well and truly got the racing bug and is eager to be given any opportunities on the circuit. Clara aged 19 is also fully involved with the horses.

The best of luck to the Sextons.
