THE historic Ayr Gold Cup success of Son Of Rest was well celebrated last weekend and connections of the Fozzy Stack-trained dead-heater had the bonus of bringing the famous trophy home to Tipperary.

Winning jockey Chis Hayes told us: “We had a little celebration on Saturday night and there was another party in Thomastown on Sunday night. The owners of Baron Bolt weren’t at the races so it was agreed that the Cup goes to Ireland for six months. I received the jockey’s memento and I think another set will be presented to the connections of Paul Cole’s horse later.”
