GOOD news for Jen Corley, EquiTrace’s CEO, who has been accepted into the Enterprise Ireland backed “Continuing the Momentum” programme for female entrepreneurs, another module of “Going for Growth”, an initiative to support female entrepreneurs.

“In Ireland 25% of tech companies have female CEOs which is the highest percentage in the world, but it’s not enough. This is a programme offering mentoring and most importantly it establishes a framework for businesswomen networking.”

EquiTrace is an app that slashes time consuming and potentiall erroneous paperwork and rapidly traces horses as they move around farms, sales, competitions and cross borders. By scanning an animal’s microchip with either of two microchip scanners, the horse’s identity can be instantly verified and medical records entered can be displayed direct on the phone or iPad and shared securely with authorised members of the farm staff.

“As we seen with human viruses, traceability is one of the means we have of trying to combat pandemics,” Corley continued.

EquiTrace has signed a sales and marketing agreement with Merck USA whose team will now be marketing the app across the many different horse sectors in the USA that are already using the Bio-Thermo microchips including several high-profile studs in Kentucky.

When used with the latest Merck Bio-Thermo chips and a suitable scanner, EquiTrace also checks, records and displays the horse’s temperature in just a few seconds.

“It’s very exciting the speed with which temperature spikes can be identified and dealt with and the technology will have huge benefits for horse welfare,” Corley concluded.
