Lady Kaya is likely to be aimed at the Moyglare Stud Stakes on Sunday week following her fine effort in defeat in the Debutante last month.

Having made a big impression with a 10-length victory on her second start at the Curragh, the daughter of Dandy Man stepped up to group 2 level just a fortnight later and was beaten into fourth place by the Patrick Prendergast-trained Skitter Scatter.

Trainer Sheila Lavery feels Lady Kaya may not have been at her very best on the day and remains keen to test her powers at group 1 level in the Moyglare on September 16th.

Lavery said: “I don’t think she lost anything in defeat. I’m not sure if the race maybe came a bit soon or if the ground didn’t really suit her, but she’s come out of the race very well.

“We’re still on target and I think her most likely next race will be the Moyglare. I think she deserves to take her chance there.

“I think she’ll have learnt a lot more in defeat than she did the day she won, funnily enough.

“Hopefully there’s more to come from her.”
