Gavin Cromwell is keeping his fingers crossed Princess Yaiza can earn herself a deserved return to the winner’s enclosure with victory in the Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes at Galway on Tuesday.

The mile and a half listed contest is the feature event on the second evening of the two-day fixture at Ballybrit and a strong field of 16 runners have been declared.

Princess Yaiza is winless after five starts so far in 2018, but has been placed at Listed level on three occasions, most recently finishing third behind subsequent Irish and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Sea Of Class at Newbury.

She was last seen splitting the Willie Mullins-trained pair of Nessun Dorma and Limini in the valuable Guinness Handicap over this course and distance at the Galway Festival and Cromwell is pleased with her condition ahead of her return to the track.

Cromwell said: “She’s in good order and we know the trip and track won’t be a problem to her following her good run at the Festival. That form looks pretty solid with Limini coming out and winning in Leopardstown over the weekend.

“She’s drawn in stall 10. We’d have preferred to have been in single figures, but she usually breaks well, so fingers crossed.

“Hopefully she’ll run a big race and she wouldn’t be winning out of turn if she does get her head in front.”

The line-up is headed by Luca Cumani’s British raider Alwaysandforever, who was fourth behind St Leger runner-up Lah Ti Dar in the Galtres Stakes at York on her latest appearance.

Aidan O’Brien saddles Ballet Shoes and Erin, while his son Joseph launches a four-pronged attack with Flicker Flame, High Language, Baby Pink and Dynabee all in the mix.

Other contenders include Jessica Harrington’s pair of Rovetta and Echo Park, Dermot Weld’s Romiyna and the Harry Rogers-trained Remarkable Lady, who was runner-up to Airlie Beach in last year’s renewal.
