APPLICATIONS are now open for the Horse Sport Ireland Stallion Selections 2022. The event will be held in Cavan Equestrian Centre on March 23rd and 24th next. For the first time, breeders will have the option to submit an online or paper application form. The closing date is Friday, February 4th.

The purpose of the HSI Stallion Selections is to provide a platform for Irish breeders to present their stallion for classification within the Irish Sport Horse Studbook, Irish Draught Studbook, and Irish Sports Pony Studbook.

Interim Head of Breeding, Innovation and Development at HSI, Sonja Egan, said: “I am very much looking forward to leading the HSI Stallion Selections in March. This is an opportunity to showcase the best in Irish-bred stallions and always a much-anticipated event. I am delighted to introduce an online application option to increase accessibility for all breeders. I hope, Covid-19 permitting, that our equestrian community can turn out to view our prospective sires of the future. I am excited to see some stalwart and new faces, and continuing to champion the best in Irish breeders and Irish horses.”
