MUTHMIR, very short at 5/2 favourite to land the 32Red Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood, failed to justify that cramped price but showed his running to be all wrong by running out a decisive winner of the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap.

In beating Bogart by two lengths, with Humidor and Goldream next, he looked every inch a group-class performer and William Haggas will no doubt put that to the test next time.
