Name: April Wilson

Team: England

In preparation for the world team championships, we competed together at the Northern challenge, which we won. This gave us great confidence in the run up to the finals. New Zealand and Ireland are the teams to beat. Being selected to represent England means a lot because of all the hard work my family and I have put in. It’s the ultimate achievement in a team situation to represent your country.

The European Championships held at Tattersalls in 2013 was the best competition I have ever been to. The facilities, stables and atmosphere were excellent.

I chose to base myself and my horse in the UK so that I could be able to take part in a wider range of competition. I moved to the UK in March 2014 and in that same year I won the Intercountries, followed by the British individual championships in 2015. I’m proud and honoured to have been selected to ride for my country.

In preparation for the world championships I have been working hard on my fitness. The team should do okay we haven’t trained together yet, Dee (Cherrington) will be using a pool pony and we won’t know how they will perform until we get to Millstreet.
