AT the age of 11, the Generous gelding General Gold finally got off the mark in the two-mile, five-furlong handicap hurdle at Sligo on Wednesday.

Ridden by Barry Browne for Ballynahinch owner/trainer Victor Wilson, the good-looking chesnut was having only his 21st career start as he was off for 733 days following his first run, in a maiden hurdle at Sligo in May 2014, and had other lengthy breaks since then.
