APART from Donnchadh Doyle winning the first division of the Dennison Commercials four-year-old maiden, results at the Newry Harriers’ point-to-point at Taylorstown last Saturday were similar to those at Largy seven days earlier with northern trainers and owners plus the Karl Thornton/Smyth alliance again proving dominant.

There was a notable local success in the six-year-old and upwards geldings’ maiden which, since 2012 has been sponsored by Newry bookmaker Franco Hughes in memory of his late wife Lynda.
