PATRICK Turley may have travelled as far as Brian Hamilton’s yard in his days as a rider but is now training from his family’s home farm in the centre of Downpatrick racecourse.

Having sent out some eye-catching point-to-point winners, which were profitably sold on to other yards, Turley saddled his first racecourse winner last Friday week afternoon at Down Royal where Mig Des Taillons justified favouritism in the extended two-mile handicap hurdle. This race, like all others on the card, was sponsored by Ladbrokes.
