THE Basanta gelding Mr Cosmopolitan, who ran four times in point-to-points this season without ever troubling the judge, enjoyed a very successful few hours last Sunday in his new career as a riding club horse.

Trained by Jim Dreaper for breeder Hugh Newell, the 2007 bay finished sixth at Lingstown in December when partnered by Richie Harding in the banks’ race. On his next three starts, Mr Cosmopolitan was ridden by Emma Sweeney who pulled him up each time, most recently at Borris House in late February.
