THE Limerick Harriers have been meeting in Fedamore since their foundation almost 120 years ago, making them one of the oldest harrier packs in the country. Since Aongus McNamara became huntsman they have been kennelled at his farm just outside Croom.

Even the casual observer might notice that it is no ordinary dairy farm. Not too far from the milking parlour is a mini racecourse with a line of chase fences used as schooling by his brother JT, who suffered catastrophic injuries in the Kim Muir Chase in Cheltenham two years ago. Now back at home, JT has resumed his business of prepping horses for the National Hunt scene. At the other side of the yard is his uncle Andrew’s all-weather track where he trains both National Hunt and flat horses. Andrew is father to two of Ireland’s top jockeys, professional Andrew Jnr and Robbie, amateur jockey to the all-conquering Dermot Weld stable.
