IN a display to warm the heart the dual Cheltenham Festival hero Samcro showed that he’s not finished yet as he bounced back from several lacklustre efforts to land the Grade 3 An Riocht Chase.

This race mightn’t have demanded quite as much as some of the races that Samcro came through earlier in his career but this was still a hot renewal of this two-and-a-half-mile affair as evidenced by the runner-up Cilaos Emery boasting a rating of 162. After an abject season, the Gigginstown House Stud-owned and Denise Foster-trained Samcro lined up with plenty of questions to answer but, just when it looked like the show might be over for the nine-year-old, he offered renewed hope.
