JOAN Moore, an iconic figure of Irish jump racing, was laid to rest on Friday. She died peacefully on Wednesday, aged 91.

Mrs Moore’s influence on racing covered three generations. A native of Co Galway, she played a major role in her husband Dan’s training operation, which produced 14 Cheltenham Festival winners. In the latter years of her husband’s life, when he was battling serious illness, she supervised the training of a team that included top chaser Tied Cottage.
