THIRTEEN-year-old Jennifer Kuehnle added to Ireland’s haul of non-senior European medals this afternoon (Saturday) when she took gold in the children on horses final at the European Championships in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.

Delivering two perfect rounds this afternoon on Chaitanya 2, the Irish rider then went into a jump-off against the clock with three other riders, all of whom were German.

Yet again Kuehnle and her mount left everything intact, and although two of the German riders also managed clears, her time was well over a second sharper than her nearest rival, Calvin Bockmann on Cavello Z, and ensured Gold for Ireland.

Jack Ryan, riding Cavalier Teaca, also made Saturday’s final, but five faults ruled them out of the deciding stages and slotted them into 10th overall.

At the same venue on Friday, the Gain Horse Feeds Junior (U18) Team of Philip Carey, Susan Fitzpatrick, Anna Carway and Cormac Hanley took the Team Silver medal, while the Young Rider (U21) Team took bronze in their final. The team consisted of Eoin Mc Mahon, Michael G.
