Lifted by a stunning late test from Fionn Clarke and Black Velvet Band, the squad of Patrick Dennehy (Rose Down), Sophie Buller (G Maha), Lucy Hancock (Newtown Westie) and Fionn Clarke (Black Velvet Band) clustered well to carry forward a score of 147.3, albeit some distance behind leaders France on 124.2 and second-placed Germany (127.7).

While France’s commanding lead at this stage is impressive, the final result is far from being a foregone conclusion. The two jumping phases will pose a serious challenge for all eight teams and are likely to have a major influence on the order. “Thrilled with Fionn’s test – it was a great morale boost,” said team coach Polly Holohan.
