CORK’s Austin O’Connor reversed his luck from the FEI Eventing European Championships in Poland two weeks ago, where he suffered an unfortunate fall out on cross country, when winning the open intermediate event at the Wellington Horse Trials, Hook, Hampshire, last weekend.

Riding the 12-year-old gelding Kilpatrick Knight (ISH), by Master Imp, O’Connor led from the outset when setting a score of 24.30, and with nothing to add across the country or over the coloured poles, won the class with just over a penalty to spare from Britain’s Kitty King and Vendredi Biats, who also completed on their dressage score of 25.70.
