OFFALY’s Darragh Kenny secured an Irish win in the two-star $35,000 1.45m jump-off class at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, riding Kerry Anne LLC’s Bolero III.

Some 56 combinations lined out and 16 of those made it through to the second round against the clock. Venezuela’s Luis Larrazabal held the lead in 37.16 seconds with G&C Close Up until Kenny entered the ring when last to go and broke the beam in 36.38 to claim the class. America’s Brett Burlington and Alden Burlington’s Bluf placed third in 38.28 seconds. Kenny took over the ride on the 10-year-old gelding by Chatman, out of a Darco-sired mare, from Spain’s Sergio Alvarez Moya last summer and the pair competed in Europe winning a two-star 1.45m class at Bonheiden, Belgium, in May.
