CO Meath’s Alexander Butler won his second two-star Grand Prix in as many weeks in Peelbergen, The Netherlands, last weekend, leading Athene to victory in the feature class.

Butler and the 16-year-old mare owned by himself and Ger Peols were among 57 starters in the 1.45m Grand Prix. Just eight completed the first round without fault and against the clock, they posted the fastest time in 38.41 seconds to take the top prize of €6,250. Sweden’s Petronella Andersson finished second with Claptonn Mouche (0/0 39.27), ahead of New Zealand’s Daniel Meech and Cinca 3 (0/0 40.53) in third place.
