JOURNALIST

The Irish Field is seeking a Journalist to join its editorial department. The successful candidate will join The Irish Field team at our Dublin office. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Ireland’s only newspaper dedicated to racing and equestrian sports.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate unique content for The Irish Field, focusing on horse management
  • Editing copy in line with The Irish Field’s house style
  • Producing and commissioning content for occasional commercial features
  • Assisting in the production of other publications produced by The Irish Field
  • Update The Irish Field website and social media channels
  • Attend racing/sport horse industry events on behalf of The Irish Field
  • THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE

  • Third-level qualification in journalism or a related discipline
  • A portfolio of published articles on an equine theme
  • A proven ability to write copy to a high standard and work within strict deadlines
  • A working knowledge of the thoroughbred racing, breeding and sport horse sectors
  • Some practical experience of handling horses
  • Excellent computer skills and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills, suited to working in a busy and friendly office
  • Flexibility to work in evenings and at weekends when required
