HORSE Sport Ireland has received 140 submissions to date from breeders regarding its much talked-about decision to review the sport horse industry and the suspension of springtime stallion inspections.

The driving force behind the sport horse industry review was the publication of the “Reaching New Heights” Strategic Plan (2015). Low levels of support for stallions that had successfully passed through the inspection system, introduced in 2010, and an increasing range of global options for performance breeders were the main reasons cited for suspending stallion inspections.
