AT the end of this year’s Festival I will retire as manager of Galway racecourse. While it will be a sad occasion after spending 26 years in the position, I am proud to be handing the reins over to my son, Michael, thereby ensuring the Moloney name will continue to be associated with Ballybrit.

All my life has been involved with horses and racing - I grew up in Co Limerick, where my family owned the Riverside Stud. We bred plenty of decent flat horses over the years, including Richmond Stakes winner Another Realm and Derby fourth, Silver Season.
