THE current flat campaign has proved a really rewarding one for our small stable with horses such as Enter The Red, The Last Indian and Not A Whisper all winning multiple races. As a trainer, I pride myself on having a decent strike rate as I feel that horses should only be placed where they have a genuine chance of success.

I left school after my Junior Certificate and enrolled in the RACE Academy. From there I was sent out on placement to John Mulhern from whom I learned all about race-riding. My own background was in hunting and showjumping, so it was my first opportunity to work closely with thoroughbreds. Flashing Steel was just coming to the end of a remarkable career when I arrived in the yard and I was lucky enough to be asked to look after him for his final season.
