THE second running of Rosanna horse trials last Sunday again saw the Ashford, Co Wicklow, event being well-sponsored, well-run and well-supported not only by owners and riders, but by a large number of volunteers, many of whom are members of local riding clubs.

Among the fence sponsors was Glenealy-based Cooley Farm, responsible also for erecting the dressage arenas on Saturday along with Niki Potterton, who had been despatched by wife Sarah Ennis to assist the organisers. His own logical conclusion that he then didn’t have to help her on the day of competition proved to be totally incorrect!
