THE Irish Pony Club show jumping classic finals take place tomorrow (Sunday) in Coilog EC, Co Kildare and while there are good prizes on offer for the one-metre and 1.10m classes, it’s the 1.20m section which generates most interest. First and second in this class win a week’s training for themselves and their horses at McKee Barracks, with the IPC covering their accommodation expenses.

The classic was won last year by Jane McClean of the Oriel harriers hunt branch who very much enjoyed her time at the Army Equitation School. The 17-year-old could easily return there as she qualified at Cavan for tomorrow’s final with her winning mount of last year, Sonconcorde. Jane also tried hard to qualify for the young riders classes at the RDS on the Dutch warmblood gelding but narrowly failed to do so.
