Nine combinations from the starting 54 contested the 148cms Grade A qualifier. As one combination had already filled their quota there were eight riders jumping for seven places as they headed into the first jump-off. Four of those remained on a zero score and the three fastest on faults took a qualifying place as the rest entered into the second jump-off.

The winner and the only combination to remain on a zero score was Cormac Foley and Another Destiny in a time of 44.40 seconds. Second place went to Conor McMahon and The Son Of A Builder (0/0/4) on 37.38, with Patrick Hickey taking third on New Forge Lady (0/0/11) on 58.06. Luke Garrigan, having taken over the ride on Dr Spot from his older brother Matt, took fourth qualifying place. McMahon had a very good day and filled his quota from this class by finishing in sixth with Lady Capulet. In fifth was Cassandra Van Het Roelhof and Grace McHugh, also filling her quota. Seventh place and the final qualifying spot went to Killian Ryan and Lonesome Dove.
