WITH the 2019 breeding season around the corner, a timely look at the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) sire rankings from last year makes for interesting reading.

How are their rankings determined? According to USEF’s Ken Ball, the rankings are based on points earned in the federation’s licensed competitions. “In order to earn points, horses must have a USEF recording and the owners must be active members. There could be other requirements based on discipline/breed requirements such as USHJA Registration, microchip, age verification, etc,” Ball said.
