THE cross-country proved very straightforward for the one-star runners and podium placings fell largely in dressage order. In the O/CNC* sector, Jessica McIntyre made the journey from Banbridge to win with her flatwork leader Sergeant Kiki, from Louise Bloomer who enjoyed a happy spin with Hollybrook High In The Sky.

Some 31 starters contested the restricted division which was well won by Lee Maher with his own and Orla Byrne’s eight-year-old NEH Avalon Clover. A runner-up at Grove two weeks earlier, and making only his second appearance at the level, the son of Cloneen Clover led from the front. The eight-year-old, who was bred by Peter Roche and sourced from Caroline Marwood, has Millstreet as the aim. Having stepped up to open company this year, amateur rider John Gavin filled second with Toome Ranger Pippin, from Lucy Latta (RCA Patron Saint).
