SARAH Ennis and MTH Shannondale Khaleesi extended their lead in the CNC* six-year-old series when, completing on their dressage score, they headed the 23 runners from the front. Leading a field of some of the best youngsters in the country, the daughter of Shannondale Sarco had also won the second leg in Killossery last month and impressively has now racked up her fourth win from just six outings under rules. A former show jumper when ridden by Derek McConnell and Sorcha Hennessy, the Thomas Ryan-bred mare (out of Greygrove Sally by Maltstriker) now has the HSI age championship at Camphire in her sights.

While the winner was unchallenged, show jumping errors opened the door for the next two placings, and keeping a clean sheet, Darragh Byrne and the consistent Kilcannon Ramro were promoted from fourth to second, while Nicola Ennis also improved to fill third with the Laura Glynn home-bred Killossery Kappuchino. The cross-country proved very straightforward for these campaigners, all of whom jumped clear.
