ALTHOUGH the recently introduced EI105 class has not attracted huge entries this summer, it has been very well received. Danny Dulohery has had positive feedback from all levels and anticipates a big uptake in entries at next year’s international fixture. In June it attracted some professional riders with young horses, but could feasibly fill a popular role for amateur/grassroots riders keen to make a trip abroad.

It has been a useful class on home turf too, and fulfilling its stepping stone status, Sunday’s win fell to Darragh Byrne with the level first-timer Ballyvaden Maybe (Shannondale Sarco). Placed sixth in the Grove EI100 the previous week, the duo opened from the front, and despite lowering a coloured pole remained ahead of Camilla Speirs (BT Angelo) and also Gretta O’Mahony with Mealagh Chaplin.
