WHAT a doughty character Carrigeen Acebo is. Yet another member of the Lalors’ outstanding female dynasty, Carrigeen Acebo maintained her unbeaten record in points this season at the Cloyne Harriers meeting at Dromahane by recording her fifth success of the campaign in the East Cork Oil mares’ open.

On an afternoon which saw punters experience the better of the betting exchanges, Carrigeen Acebo (4/5) was left in front with trainer Dick Lalor’s daughter Liz when main market-rival Eala Beag unseated at the fourth fence. The winning grey was harried virtually throughout by Ballyadam Dancer until the latter cried enough after erring two out.
