Dutch Schultz, a very impressive winner on the flat at Gowran last time and can make a winning debut over hurdles. Having only his second start for Gavin Cromwell, the four-year-old travelled easily throughout that race and had his rivals in trouble a long way from home. Testing ground suits him best and provided he takes to jumping, he should be hard to beat.

Bugs Moran showed a degree of promise when staying on late on his sole start in a Galway bumper in June. He is entitled to come on from that experience and Noel Meade has his string in great form right now.

SELECTION: DUTCH SCHULTZ

Minella Cocooner finished second on his sole point-to-point start before easily landing his bumper on his rules debut. Willie Mullins looks to have found an ideal opening for him to get off the mark over hurdles at the first attempt. The overall strength of the opposition looks weak, aside from the De Bromhead representative who returns from a long absence.

Largy Debut won his point at Oldtown in February 2020, then ran well when third in a Navan bumper the following month. He has been off the track for 610 days, suggesting that he must have met with some form of setback. With that in mind, he is entitled to need the run now.

SELECTION: MINELLA COCOONER

12.50 Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle 2m

Select Opportunity made a very pleasing reappearance when second at Galway last time. That form has already been boosted with the winner following up at Clonmel on Thursday. Despite now entering the veteran stages of his career, the Eddie Cawley-trained gelding is relatively lightly raced and should be involved.

Capture The Action, who was second in a stronger race over this course and distance last time, looks the main threat. Shane Fitzgerald retains the ride and the fact he knows the horse is a definite advantage in a race of this nature.

SELECTION: SELECT OPPORTUNITY

1.20 Kevin McManus Bookmaker Handicap Hurdle 2m

Sevenna Star is interesting on his first start in handicap company. Emmet Mullins’s six-year-old caught the eye under a tender ride at Sligo on his penultimate start and again showed ability when fifth at Fairyhouse on his most recent outing. He gives the impression that there is more to come, so perhaps the switch to handicap company may see him in a better light.

Takarengo has been slightly disappointing over hurdles given the level of ability he possesses on the flat. To date he has only won once over flights despite some nice runs. On a going day, he is more than capable of winning in this company.

SELECTION: SEVENNA STAR

Magic Daze may just shade it over her main rival, given she has the advantage of race fitness. A smart hurdler last season, she ran a huge race when second in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham. A promising chase debut at Galway received a nice boost when the second placed horse won during the week.

Sayce Gold looked a decent mare last year as well, galloping her rivals into the ground on more than one occasion. There are no fears about her dropping back to the minimum trip either, as she has some serious form at this distance. Race fitness would be a slight concern but her shrewd trainer may have had this meeting on his radar for some time.

SELECTION: MAGIC DAZE

Noble Yeats faces no easy task under top weight but may have the class to overcome that burden. He ran better than the bare result when fourth here in a Grade 3 chase last time and his Galway Beginners Chase win was franked in no uncertain terms by the runner-up during the week.

Halsafari ran well at this track on his recent stable debut so is entitled to be even better now. That run was in a Grade B handicap so he has his sights lowered on his return to the Munster venue.

SELECTION: NOBLE YEATS

Fakir D’Alene has somewhat of a mixed profile but this former point-to-point winner is a smart horse on his day. Perhaps the switch to chasing will reawaken his interest, as there can be little doubt that the ability is there, even if he doesn’t always deliver. With his stable in incredible form over the last few months he will get few better opportunities to win over fences.

Castle Town House might represent some value at a potentially big price. The six-year-old was well beaten on his chasing debut at Wexford but will be much better suited to his track and runs his best races when coming from off the pace.

SELECTION: FAKIR D’ALENE
