CATHAL Beale will succeed John Osborne as CEO of the Irish National Stud on July 1st.

He is a graduate of the Irish National Stud’s stud management programme and the Godolphin Flying Start. He has worked for Paddy Power, Racing Post, Forenaghts Stud and Tinnakill Bloodstock.

He also holds a B.A. from UCD and Masters in Management from Smurfit Business School.

The vacancy arose when Osborne was denied the opportunity to reapply for the position following the end of a successful seven-year tenure. He has since been appointed to a senior management role in Horse Racing Ireland.

Beale said: “This is a wonderful opportunity and a job I have trained for during my entire career. It’s an exciting challenge and I’m fortunate to be running with the same management team who are both focused and passionate, the same as the board of directors. I am confident it will be business as usual and look forward to meeting clients both old and new in the near future.”

Matt Dempsey, INS chairman, commented: “Cathal brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to his new role. We wish him every success as he succeeds John Osborne who has made the Irish National Stud one of the world’s leading stud farms.”
