The showcase event was Sunday’s Ulster Region Bluegrass 1.35m Summer Tour, where Jordan Coyle claimed the spoils on Gerard Sharkey’s VDL Cassius, a nine-year-old bay mare by Ard VDL Douglas out of a mare by Lord Noble. Coyle had the advantage of being last up in the 18-horse jump-off but he left nothing to chance, delivering a sure-footed round fault free with almost two seconds to spare over second-placed Ryan O’Neill on Roisin Hughes’ American-bred Roxborough Jimmy Choo. This is Jordan’s second win of the series, having previously claimed victory in the inaugural round at Portmore.

The course, built by Ray Buchanan and Aaron McCusker, asked plenty of technical questions and the infamous zebra caught a few unsuspecting horses, as did the motorway planks.
