KILKENNY young rider Phillip Carey claimed the second round of the Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour at Barnadown in Co Wexford on Saturday from 53 entries.

Carey piloted the 16-year-old gelding CTS Peanuts to victory, posting the fastest double clear round of 32.13 seconds. It was a Kilkenny one-two as Ger O’Neill finished as runner-up aboard The Hurricane, just over two tenths of a second slower than Carey. Waterford’s Francis Connors slotted into third with Capital Cruis while John Floody grabbed fourth spot with Ballyknock Diamond.
